How to prepare for an interview, if you have told lies on your resume

Rehearse, and rehearse some more. When you go for an interview, it’s like going on stage to give a performance of Macbeth!

You need to know your lines, particularly if you have changed your resume to suit the position you are applying for.

Go over as many times as necessary, the dates of leaving and starting jobs, until you have them down pat. There is nothing guaranteed to blow you out of the water than if you forget what you put on your resume

Remember, the interviewer has your resume sitting on the desk on front of him. You don’t. If you forget something, you can’t really ask him to pass it over so you can refresh your memory. It should be second nature to you, which of course it would be if it were true. That’s why you need to rehearse.

Think of your resume as a script. Read through the dates, then put it down and try to go through them in your own mind. Like learning your lines.

Do the same with your work experience. If you have embellished your work history. make sure that you know what you are supposed to have accomplished and in which job.

Again. Learn your lines.

Remember what you are attempting to do here. Get a job. Which means money. Think of the salary you will be making. How many thousands per year? If someone offered to pay you to rehearse your resume for two hours, how much would you do it for? 100 dollars? 200 dollars? How much?

A good job is going to pay you maybe one hundred or two hundred times that amount.
